First of all, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who is celebrating! Noticed something interesting over the past couple of years, Black Friday is becoming more and more popular in Europe as well. In my country, if you would have asked store owners about Black Friday promotions 7-8 years ago, they would have given you a compassionate “this guy has to be crazy” look but nowadays, more and more businesses are coming up with Black Friday promotions over here as well.

Let’s be honest and leave hypocrisy aside for just one moment: just like new gTLDs represent a way through which ICANN will make a LOT of money, dot uk domains represent a way through which… you guessed it, Nominet will make a LOT of money.

To be honest, I can’t remember the last time I took a look at my dashboard, I usually go straight to the interface through which I add posts. Anyway, today was an exception and I noticed that Akismet protected DomainingTips.com from over a million spam comments.

About.com Sells @ $300 Million

Whenever a website that has a great domain sells, I think it’s good news for our industry and $300 million is a pretty good deal for the buyer in my opinion. IAC paid the New York Times $300 million for About.com, $110 million less than what the New York Times paid for it back in 2005.

As an entrepreneur, I like the fact that FB is interested in making more money and while this specific development may not seem like news that should be important to domainers, it might represent a signal that a Facebook ad network which is open to publishers could make its appearance.
