2012 is a couple of hours away over here, just wanted to wish you guys all the best before getting caught up in the celebration frenzy. Maybe 2011 has been great for you, maybe it hasn’t, maybe it has been great in some areas and not so great in others.

Posted on 30 December 2011 by Andrei

It seems that 2011 is ending with some interesting developments. First of all, Internet users will be able to subscribe to the advertiser’s newsletter directly through the AdWords ad (screenshot included). And secondly, Facebook launched a Windows-based messenger (screenshot included) through which you’ll be able to communicate with others without being logged in via the Web-based interface. To download this application, click HERE.

Verisign 2012 Price Increase Coming Soon – Renew Your Domains!

Posted on 29 December 2011 by Andrei

Just a friendly reminder: don’t forget about Verisign’s 2012 price increase. If you want to renew a bunch of domains, I’d recommend doing it before the price increase kicks in. Based on my experience, most registrars (at the very least those operating on thin margins and which would lose money by keeping their current prices) will start charging more, so there’s no time like the present to take action.

Domain Values – Are You Bullish or Bearish?

Posted on 27 December 2011 by Andrei

I distinctly remember a post I made a month ago and Paul aka snoopy posted some interesting comments which made it clear that when it comes to future domain values, he is not optimistic. On the other hand, we have Mike Mann as an example of a domainer who added ~100,000 domains to his portfolio in 2011, so he obviously has a completely different opinion.

“A Bit More” Government Involvement Can’t Hurt… Right? Wrong!

Posted on 26 December 2011 by Andrei

Humans aren’t perfect and this economic climate tends to bring out the worst in most people but situations such as the SOPA drama manage to restore my faith in humanity every once in a while.

A YouTube Video Worth Watching, Thank Me Later

Posted on 23 December 2011 by Andrei

You’re a domainer… maybe you consider yourself an investor, maybe you consider yourself a speculator. No matter what your perception may be, understanding a few economic fundamentals is a must. The video I’m about to share (Peter Schiff’s Congressional lecture on “What About Money Causes Economic Crises?”) will help you establish a solid foundation, an investment of 70 minutes that will prove to be more than worth it in my opinion.

Am I the Only Domainer Who Isn’t Impressed by Money-Related Movies?

Posted on 22 December 2011 by Andrei

So I saw “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” yesterday and while it’s better than the original one in my opinion (which is pretty rare), it still kind of left me saying… “meh”. The acting wasn’t bad and I like Michael Douglas, it’s just that as a businessman and an investor, such movies don’t really impress me.

Always Use a Coupon, Being a Cheap Bastard Is Worth It!

Posted on 21 December 2011 by Andrei

Most registrars ask whether or not you want to use a coupon at one point or another during the checkout process and I don’t understand why some people underestimate the importance of using coupons. The more domains you have, the more sense it makes to use coupons.

A simple rule: whenever you want to register, renew or transfer domains, check out LiveCodes for a GoDaddy coupon or DomainPromoCodes.com for domain coupons. That’s it, you will always be able to find decent deals for pretty much everything you need and it only takes a few seconds.
