12 GoDaddy Discount Codes

Posted on 09 November 2013 by Andrei

First of all, I’d like to mention a $1.99 promotion I just saw over at GoDaddy which also has a charitable purpose, helping the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

To go to the promotion page, click HERE and if you end up taking advantage of their $1.99 + ICANN fee offer, I’d strongly recommend using the option GoDaddy gives you before paying, the option of rounding up and paying a little extra to help a good cause.

Is This the Second Internet Bubble?

Posted on 07 November 2013 by Andrei

Lots of people are following Twitter’s IPO and wondering whether or not we’re dealing with the second Internet bubble. My answer is a clear “NO”, for the simple reason that we can no longer simply refer to “the Internet” in a way which encompasses everything.

Some Internet companies are insanely profitable and more than justify their valuation, other companies… not so much 🙂

Playing “Hard to Get” When *Actively* Selling a Domain?

Posted on 06 November 2013 by Andrei

When an end user contacts you, playing hard to get makes sense because it lets that person know you’re not eager to sell. But doing it when you are actively selling a domain (in other words, when you are pitching it to someone as opposed to being contacted by that person) doesn’t make as much sense.

Interpreting Past Sales

Posted on 05 November 2013 by Andrei

Yesterday, I explained that while great LLLL dot coms such as CVCVs are doing remarkably well, domainers should stay away from the lowest quality LLLLs (also known as “wholesale” LLLL dot coms) such as YQXZ.com.

Don’t Invest in “Wholesale” LLLL Dot Coms

Posted on 04 November 2013 by Andrei

Certain types of LLLL dot coms have done remarkably well (CVCV dot coms, for example) and therefore, lots of domainers made the mistake of thinking that all LLLL dot coms have value.

What Domainers Can Learn from Rick’s Restorations

Posted on 01 November 2013 by Andrei

Yesterday, I explained why focusing on quality as opposed to quantity is the best approach in 2013 and beyond.

I’ll take it even further and say that all domainers should watch at least an episode or two of Rick’s Restorations. It’s basically a show about a very passionate guy (Rick Dale) who restores vintage items and things like that for his customers.

Wonderful Domains at Fair Prices or Fair Domains at Wonderful Prices?

Posted on 31 October 2013 by Andrei

One of my favorite Warren Buffett quotes, one that applies to domains as well in my opinion, is this:

“It’s far better to buy a wonderful company at a fair price than a fair company at a wonderful price”

Most Domainers/Entrepreneurs Read too Much

Posted on 30 October 2013 by Andrei

I’ve noticed that this applies to people who earn a living online more than to other individuals. But before I start, I just want to make one thing perfectly clear: I’m not saying you shouldn’t read/learn.

I love reading.

Will Free New gTLDs Be a Threat?

Posted on 29 October 2013 by Andrei

I’m convinced there will be at least a few companies that will offer domains free of charge and at first sight, this might seem like something significant/revolutionary but in my opinion, free new gTLDs won’t be a threat at all.

The paradox is that, again in my opinion, people won’t want them precisely *because* they’re free.
