I followed the auction through Vin’s twitter feed and DNN (here and here).
In my opinion, the results were decent and the most important thing is that we had a wide variety of domains, many of which were priced to sell.

As a domainer, it makes sense to be prepared liquidity-wise. In other words, to always have at least a little bit of capital ready in case unexpected opportunities arise.
Why?

The great news for a lot of readers is that all 4 *should* work internationally, so not just in the US and Canada. I used the word *should* because I didn’t use any of them myself, so I can’t make any promises/guarantees.

As a domainer, I honestly doubt everything will always happen the way you want it to.
Some sales materialize, some don’t.
Some business relationships work out, some don’t.
Some investments end up being profitable, some don’t.

I know the title is kind of harsh but think about it:
Stocks are ridiculously overpriced. I’m not saying they can’t go up for another year or two but that’s hardly what I’d call a decent investment. A short-term speculative opportunity perhaps but nothing more.

I’d say this month’s inventory is average, nothing special.
A few excellent domains but with reserves on the high side, a few reruns (domains they auctioned in the past but which didn’t sell), a few reasonably priced domains and so on.
Not bad but not impressive either.

Someone who works in the construction industry should always pay attention to hazards which are specific to that line of work.
The same thing goes for athletes, health professionals, you name it.

Never quite understood this.
Their domain is listed as for sale at one venue at the very least, so it’s clear they want to sell and not develop, yet they use private whois.

Most people seem to think we have two fundamentally different positions when it comes to new gTLDs: on the one hand, those who are optimistic and on the other hand, those who are pessimistic.
Divergent, irreconcilable positions, right?
