Negativity = Bad Idea

Posted on 18 October 2013 by Andrei

As a domainer, I honestly doubt everything will always happen the way you want it to.

Some sales materialize, some don’t.

Some business relationships work out, some don’t.

Some investments end up being profitable, some don’t.

As a beginner, you’ll probably take each failure personally and you’ll probably act as if it’s the end of the world or something.

It isn’t.

If your plan works out, you make money.

If it doesn’t, you learn from that mistake and that ultimately helps you make money as well.

Not sure about you guys but it sure sounds like a win-win situation to me!

What I’m trying to say is that as a domainer, you’ll probably fail over and over… and over again.

I know I have and you know what, that’s just the way it is.

The only people who never fail are those who are too afraid to try something in the first place. I’ll take failure over an attitude like that all day long.

I said it on this blog over and over again.

Embrace failure, don’t be afraid of it!

You can either take mistakes personally and gradually watch how negativity builds up or you can treat them as a learning experience, it’s all up to you.

On DomainingTips.com, I try to always be honest with you guys.

No matter how hard you try to avoid it, you will fail at one point or another.

It’s inevitable.

Failure in and of itself doesn’t make you a loser (in fact, it actually helps you become a winner), it’s your attitude towards failure that ultimately makes it clear whether you’re a winner or a loser 😉

One does have to examine the reasons for failure so that you don’t keep making the same mistakes. If you are working out but not making progress, examine why. Perhaps you are just going through the motions and not pushing to failure. Or perhaps you are training too frequently and not allowing your body to recover between workouts. Or perhaps your diet is not giving you enough nutrition for growth. With domains, you can have poor quality, excessive prices or undermarketing.

@Leonard Britt: I agree, one of the most important things is being willing to be realistic and understand what you did wrong as opposed to blaming your mistakes/failures on outside factors

@Jay: yep, I’ll do some research and write a post later today
