… how do things stand in 2011? Obviously a rhetorical question and the point I’m trying to get across should be quite obvious: if we’re talking about an industry as volatile as the parking business, domain revenue cannot be considered a reliable stand-alone metric for the simple reason that things can (and will) change in a heartbeat.
Does this mean that type-in traffic should be ignored altogether?
Nope.
Type-in traffic and revenue are metrics which do have their role, what I’m trying to explain is that they’re not reliable enough to be considered stand-alone ones.
If you’re going to remember one thing from this post, remember this: if you think that future type-in traffic and/or revenue are predictable (especially revenue), you couldn’t be more wrong.
Again, I’m not bashing these two metrics, I’m simply explaining that they should not be treated as something they are not. If you make decisions based on an algorithm that treats type-in traffic and revenue (especially revenue) as reliable indicators of future performance, you are making a mistake in my opinion.

Revenue alone from type-in-traffic could not do much, there has to be other income sources too. And for any individual domainer he/she should have a strong website developed.
