The LLL Dot Com Market – Bullish or Bearish?

Posted on 08 June 2013 by Andrei

Personally, I think most LLL dot coms will go up in value dramatically and that all LLL dot coms will go up in value.

I have an extremely bullish long-term perspective.

There’s no doubt in my mind that there will be occasional short or mid-term corrections but I’m very optimistic when it comes to their long-term potential.

Let’s start with the ones that I think will go up in value dramatically: well, I actually think all decent LLL combinations will, so it’s easier to explain which combos I think won’t do as well.

As mentioned initially, I’m convinced all combos will go up in value but some of them won’t go up as much percentage-wise in my opinion.

I’m talking about the so-called “wholesale” LLL dot coms, the ones with lower quality letters. Realistically speaking, domains with for example 3 non-premium letters will probably never be bought by an end user.

A good rule of thumb is this: without using the Internet, try to come up with potential acronyms for the domain you’re analyzing. The more you can come up with, the more confident you can be in its end user appeal.

Again, I’m convinced that even the worst LLL dot coms will go up in value because the market will drag them up but I think solid LLLs and solid short domains in general will do remarkably well.

I wish UDRP exclude acronyms – short domains up to 3-4 characters. Then the LLL.com market would be more interesting…

Marek a UDRP is part of domaining. There are ways to protect yourself and sometimes a UDRP can increase the value of your domain…

Lower quality letters are traded among domainers and the only one earning any money is the one collecting the commissions. (paypal, escrow, auction houses)

@Konstantinos: I agree with the first part of your comment but not with the second part. Even if wholesale LLL dot coms are traded among domainers, there’s definitely money to be made.

For example, if someone would be willing to sell me wholesale LLL dot coms at $3,000 each, I’d definitely be a buyer because I know I can flip them at market value.

Lots of people made money selling wholesale LLL dot coms, from those who bought them back in the day to those who can buy them now at below market value and flip them quickly, to those who buy them now and who will sell once these domains go up in value as time passes.

There is money being made for a few but domainers as a whole are losing money every time a domain changes hands.
Lower quality LLL .com are traded between a small number of people. Of course some will make money and some will lose but I try to see domainers as an entire industry. And if this industry doesn’t sell to end users then it doesn’t matter to me that a few people made money flipping. Low quality LLL .com are very hard to sell. If your LLL has no acronyms listed in acronymfinder.com then you are looking for the lottery.
