Breaking News: Data.com Sells for $1,500,000+

Posted on 07 June 2011 by Andrei

According to Oversee, the domain Data.com will no longer be available through their DomainFest auction because it just sold for an amount in excess of its $1,500,000 reserve. The terms have not yet been disclosed but the buyer is a very serious player: Salesforce.com.

2011 was off to a pretty slow start when it comes large sales but it seems that things are back on track. The sale of such a domain is always a great thing for our industry and I honestly hope that the Salesforce.com crew will put it to good use.

Words can’t begin to describe how important success stories like the Diapers.com one are to the industry. Let’s face it: such stories make it clear that you need an edge if you’re serious about standing out and a kick-ass domain represents just that 🙂
