This is one of the things I’ve been thinking about lately.
A lot of people consider the very concept of buying a premium domain strange but on the other hand, paying for website development is something they’re most likely used to.

At this point, it seems that (as strange as it may sound), people are starting to consider a new gTLD launch with 1000-ish domains decent. We had several instances when only a 3 figure number of domains were registered after should have been the big launch phase (sunrise + landrush or variations thereof + first day of general availability), so standards/expectations have been loosened quite a bit.

The domainer version of this question would be: should you try to seal the deal with the first end user who makes you a reasonable offer or wait for more generous end users to come along?

Sometimes, negotiations don’t go as planned and the end user you’ve been communicating with doesn’t get back to you. Should you follow up or wait for the other party’s reply?

Yesterday, I wrote about the fact that it’s strange how certain end users aren’t even willing to pay a more than reasonable price for a great domain.
Snoopy didn’t agree and said the following:
“we moan about someone who will not pay our price yet we’d never pay a fraction of that price ourselves”

Leonard Britt posted a comment yesterday about how a production company refused to pay more than low $xxx for a domain which would have represented either the best possible choice for their project or if not, one of the best choices for sure.
I think such mentality issues deserve to be addressed.

Back when I started out, I used to worry about every little detail and take things personally. If something didn’t work out (a deal that fell through, for example), I’d spend lots and lots of time thinking about it.
I’d get mad at the other party.
And/or start blaming myself.

Being a flipper can be quite lucrative if you know what you’re doing but the number one risk is (in my opinion, at least) letting time go by without building your very own portfolio of “keepers” or in other words, not having any long-term domain investments whatsoever.

As a domainer, not accidentally letting domains expire is definitely one of the top five rules you should follow. But does this mean you should renew all of your domains for longer periods, maybe even 10 years each?
Let’s crunch some numbers and find out.

I didn’t register that many new gTLDs but still, I ended up being the “victim” of three “epic fail” moments thus far. Ok, the term might be a bit harsh for one of them but for the other two, I don’t think it is.
