The State of the Reseller Market in 2017

Posted on 30 January 2017 by Andrei

I’m sure some of you never sell to other investors because you have enough capital to play the buy and gold game. Most domainers however do end up needing liquidity for various reasons and decide to sell their domains at wholesale prices on the reseller market. Some even focus on that market (yours truly, for example).

Consulting Misconceptions

Posted on 14 January 2017 by Andrei

My best experience when paying for consulting services has been the most “expensive” one, which involved me paying three figures per hour. Today, I’ll try to explain why.

Say Goodbye to Any Kind of Domaining Privacy

Posted on 13 January 2017 by Andrei

Companies like Escrow.com obviously hate increasing bureaucracy but are continuously forced to and this is only the beginning in my opinion. Registrars will most likely soon follow suit and it’s probably only a matter of time until you can kiss features such as whois privacy goodbye.

Is Your Domain Portfolio “Paper Wealth”?

Posted on 12 January 2017 by Andrei

Since pretty much everyone who’s reading this is a domain investor, I’m reasonably confident a relatively large percentage of your wealth is represented by your domain portfolio.

Mike Berkens Tells It Like It Is

Posted on 10 January 2017 by Andrei

In perhaps the harshest post of his I’ve ever read, Mike tells us the sad but true reason why the industry lost so many voices. He’s 100% spot on in my opinion.

He wrote his article as a reaction to the blog post I’ve written on Sunday about the state of domain blogging in 2017. Mike tried commenting on the post two times but his comments were caught by the spam filter and therefore didn’t appear immediately, I’ve approved both and they’re now up. Ironically, I then posted on The Domains and my post ended up caught by his spam filter, it has since been approved šŸ™‚

The State of Domaining Blogs in 2017

Posted on 08 January 2017 by Andrei

The first paragraph of a DSAD post I’ve read earlier today got me thinking. It refers to the fact that there are less and less advertisers on domaining blogs (I’d say domaining-related sites in general) and in my opinion, this should make all of us think about the state of domaining blogs and domaining opinion formers in 2017 and beyond.

Domaining Beginners -> Survival of the Fittest

Posted on 06 January 2017 by Andrei

Out of every 10 beginners who are reading this post right now, my best guess is that 5 of them won’t be around next year and 9 of them won’t be around two years from now.

If you were to ask me how many out of not 10 but 1,000 beginners will ultimately turn domaining into a full-time career, I’d probably say less than 10… maybe 5 or 6.

I Think Someone Should Buy DNForum.com

Posted on 22 December 2016 by Andrei

This much is certain: the forum is going nowhere as long as Adam Dicker is in charge, for obvious reasons. I think pretty much all of us can agree on that.

However, there’s something else a lot of people can agree on: DNForum used to be a decent place for domainers and in fact, it used to have a far better noise to quality ratio than NamePros back in the day.

Why I Think the NameJet Changes Actually *Are* Good News

Posted on 24 November 2016 by Andrei

First of all, let me just say that sure, I understand why some of you think it’s funny that an email about a 2.5% fee being added starts with the text ‘We have some exciting news to share!’ šŸ™‚

But leaving that aspect aside, the changes actually do represent great news for a lot of domainers.

What Trump’s Win Means for Domaining

Posted on 09 November 2016 by Andrei

Let’s not discuss politics anymore, the US has chosen Trump as its president and it’s their right to do that at the end of the day.

Instead, let’s focus on what interests us more (domaining) and try to figure out what effect Trump’s win will have on the value of our assets.
