Hi, domainers my name is Graham Haynes and together with Andrei I shall also be blogging on DomainingTips.com. My angle is going to be how to create a great business leveraging a generic domain, increasing its worth exponentially. I have often thought that main street and big businesses do not understand the value of a great name and what better way than to demonstrate it by building a business on one and selling it on for 10s of millions. Hopefully, you can take some elements of how I will build a business to show potential domain buyers examples of what can be achieved on a great domain.

In my opinion, there are two possibilities. If development is something you’re good at or passionate about then sure, go ahead. If not however, then you’re better off letting those who are do it for you. At the end of the day, it’s all a matter of crunching some numbers.

When I announced the “official” launch of MegaSites.com yesterday (the actual launch took place in 2013 but wasn’t public, I basically limited myself to a few pilot projects to test the concept), I made it clear that developing small websites is *not* a viable long-term business model in 2014 and beyond. As some of you who have been around for a while know, I’ve been repeating this on DomainingTips obsessively for several years.
