I created a brand for myself as the #1 cheap bastard in the domaining world 🙂
I always write about coupons, good deals and so on because in my opinion, being a cheap bastard pays off in the long run. But trying to save a buck doesn’t always make sense, so I decided to write a post about these distinctions.
In my opinion, trying to save a buck doesn’t make sense if:
- you have to invest lots of time to obtain the discount (it doesn’t make sense because in such situations, the time you spend in order to obtain the deal is usually worth more than the discount you’re receiving)
- you don’t really need whatever it is you’re buying at a discount (a lot of times, people buy stuff just because it’s on sale, that’s a bad idea because you’re not actually saving money by doing that, you’re wasting money by spending it on something you didn’t need in the first place)
- the company that’s offering the discount makes your life a nightmare (for example, registrars which offer great prices initially but make it next to impossible to transfer domains away and have huge renewal fees)
- we’re talking about things related to your health (trying to save a buck by purchasing cheap/low quality food for example is a bad idea because these decisions might come back to haunt you, take my word for it: when it comes to your health, never make compromises for the sake of saving a buck)
The list could go on and on but you get the point 😉
As always, if you found out about a great deal and want to share it with your fellow domainers, shoot me an email at admin@domainingtips.com and I’ll gladly blog about it.
