The Day-to-Day Frustrations of a Domaining Blogger

Posted on 22 September 2015 by Andrei

The post Konstantinos published earlier today makes it clear that the life of a domaining blogger is anything but easy.

At time, it tends to be quite frustrating.

Konstantinos invests in new gTLDs.

I don’t, at least not anymore.

By reading both of our blogs, you are exposed to different viewpoints which enable you to make informed decisions.

How much do I charge?

Zero dollars.

How much does Konstantinos charge?

Zero dollars.

In other words, we’re both sharing advice/experiences/etc. free of charge. Some readers are awesome and even email you to show how grateful they are. Others however aren’t as grateful and on the contrary, insult bloggers through more or less anonymous comments.

They come to your living room (your blog) and pee on your carpet as if they’re entitled to perfect advice and you deserve to be punished for the audacity of saying something they don’t like, don’t consider useful or whatever.

Nobody’s entitled to anything.

Nobody is forcing you to read anything.

If you criticize, do it in a constructive manner or don’t comment at all.

Bloggers are humans just like you and me who provide content free of charge. Try to always be reasonable and for the love of God, read the comment a few times before clicking on the submit button if you think it might be mean rather than constructive. When in doubt, don’t publish the comment. Treat others the same way you’d like to be treated and all that 🙂

    Good advice.

There is a tendency to be resistant to ideas which are counter to one’s domain holdings.

The reality is making money off domain names is not nearly as easy as the domain sales reports lead one to believe.

Registries and registrars need to be careful about implying that buying domain names is a way to make riches. The daily drop lists tell the real story.

For every loser who posts a thoughtless comment, there are a thousand others of us who love you guys.

I agree with what you said. The only sad part is as mentioned in the comment above there will always be haters. Just use it as fuel to keep on improving and providing the best possible information you can.

I am reminded of this when I go on YouTube.com and see a really nice motivational video and I see over 1K likes and about 50 dislikes. If the message is awesome how are there 50 people who don’t like it, then I think to myself to each its own.

You have to always control your perspective and make sure you focus on the positive aspect of any situation.
