Maybe you’re running online businesses, maybe you have a portfolio showcase site with a “contact” section and so on. I’m pretty sure most of you have at least one website with a contact form, so here’s a recommendation: eliminate all of the fields which aren’t necessary today, let’s make today the Internet’s “long forms suck” day 🙂
Alright, let’s assume you’re running a portfolio showcase site and that it has a “contact” section with a form.
Great.
Now ask yourself:
Is the “Name” field really necessary?
Well… yes, it kind of is. Fair enough.
But what about the “Address” field?
Not so much.
Let’s face it, you don’t really care where the person in question lives in most if not all cases.
Alright, what about the “Fax” field?
When’s the last time you put a person’s fax number to good use?
Exactly 🙂
If a person sees a HUGE form, then he or she is more likely to say “no thanks” and move on.
People have unbelievably short attention spans, keep that in mind.
Alright, that’s it.
If you have a website with a form, there’s no time like the present to eliminate all useless fields.
Just offering some simple advice that will undoubtedly help you obtain at least a few extra sales/leads/whatever in the long run. Hope it helps!
