Being a Domainer/Entrepreneur – One Important Disadvantage

Posted on 13 August 2013 by Andrei

I wrote lots of posts about the pros, so it’s time for one about something that isn’t all that great, at least based on my experience.

This is a problem that I’m sure lots of you guys have to struggle with as well: either lack of sleep or an unnatural sleep schedule.

Since I’m not from the US, the time difference thing is definitely problematic. Therefore, I ended up having to pretty much work a lot during the night.

Humans aren’t meant to do that.

When the sun rises, we’re supposed to go to wake up.

And when it goes down, we’re supposed to go to sleep.

A lot of times, I did the exact opposite.

The thing is sure, you can make more money by neglecting sleep but I don’t know if it’s worth it in the long run because your health is something that can’t be quantified.

You can’t just say: well, my health is worth $x, so if I make more than $x by neglecting it, it’s all good.

In the short run, you might be able to make more but this approach can come back to haunt you in the future so personally, I’m no longer willing to neglect my sleep schedule.

Neither should you.

Find a way to organize your schedule so that you don’t have to neglect sleep, you’ll thank me in the long run 🙂

this is what happens right now, with me.
but only doing it less than twice/week.

    Hi Andrei,
I have been doing this sleep schedule for about 20 years.
This is what I prefer as I was doing it before domaining.
I used to study in college during the night.

Domaining in Greece or Romania certainly requires working in the night most of the time.

I think that if you get a regular 7-8 hour sleep you’ll be ok, as I think I am!

@Konstantinos: I used to see things the same way but unfortunately, there’s a huge difference between 7-8 hours of sleep during regular sleeping hours and 7-8 hours of sleep during other periods.

In my case, I noticed something interesting: when I go to sleep at let’s say 10 or 11 pm for let’s say 8 hours, I feel great the next day and I frequently have dreams.

If I go to sleep at 3 am for 8 hours, I don’t feel as good the next day and almost never have dreams.

I learned that you just can’t mess with things like your sleep schedule without there being consequences. As mentioned in my post, humans were “designed” to sleep when the sun goes down and wake up when it rises.

Personally, I am doing everything humanly possible to switch to a natural sleep schedule and would recommend the same thing to all of my readers who are dealing with similar time zone issues.
