Does It Matter What *I* Like?

Posted on 01 October 2015 by Andrei

I’ve never been an amazingly active short domain investor. I’ve owned a few here and there but nothing spectacular, I’ve always preferred one word dot coms. My newsletter however has been and will continue to be dominated by short domains, especially LLLL dot coms (I’ll have quite a few nice ones next week, just like I had 100+ this monday).

Why?

Because as a broker, I’ve learned it doesn’t matter what *I* like, it really doesn’t.

And right now, people want short domains.

As someone who runs a domain sales newsletter, that’s my “job”: giving buyers/sellers what they want.

Which is precisely what I’m doing.

I’ve had amazing one word dot coms on my newsletter… not much action.

Yet when I have short domains, people sometimes go crazy. This Monday, for example, I had 10 (TEN!) people contact me to straight up buy the same domain, a LLLL dot com.

That’s where the money is atm, so that’s where I have to be as a broker.

My newsletter isn’t a museum and at the end of the day, everything’s in vain if there aren’t transactions.

How much will the short domain frenzy last?

I have no idea.

Yes, it’s definitely a frenzy (with people hand registering six letter numerics by the hundreds of thousands in a very short timeframe) but nobody can predict the future, your guess is as good as mine 🙂

i think it’s gone a bit overboard with the 6 numbers going well… like six numbers is not easy to remember which is the whole point of domain names. but 4 letter pinyins are totally crazy so i don’t know how much upside is left there.
