I consider myself a reasonably good investor, among other things because I don’t get emotionally attached to whatever it is I’m investing in. A lot of people think that selling domains at a loss is a huge mistake because the holding cost is only about 8 bucks/year. Those people are right or wrong, depending on how much liquidity the domain owner in question has.
Let me explain.

A while ago, I announced that I’m accepting guest posts on DomainingTips.com. I thought it would be a reasonable deal for both parties and I was right. The author receives exposure for his/her sites or domains and I receive interesting content for my blog.

Here are some of my favorite tools that I think don’t get the pub they deserve in the world of domaining:

Many domainers want the best of both worlds. They want to park their domains for PPC revenue and also hope end users will see that their domain is for sale. Unfortunately, potential end users who aren’t familiar with the domain industry will often overlook the small notices that a domain is for sale on a parking page.

A reader recently asked me if I get lots of traffic when I post about coupons or discounts. To be honest, I don’t even care. The main reason why I write those posts is the fact that people often thank me, which leads me to believe that I’m doing a good job and that those posts are useful.
As a person who runs online businesses, I’ve noticed something interesting: when people are satisfied with a product/service, they usually don’t say thanks or something like that. In most cases, you only hear from most people when they’re *not* satisfied with something.

There’s no way for me to answer this question without asking another one: how important is the domain in question? Or better yet, is that domain important enough for you to be willing to pay “retail” in order to renew it?
If you only own a few domains then sure, it’s a no brainer. But if you own thousands, it adds up and paying retail for your renewals might/will affect your bottom line. Unfortunately, you can’t apply coupons when auto renewing, that’s why I mentioned the fact that you’d be paying retail.

Came across a pretty nice list of GoDaddy discount codes today and thought I’d share it with you guys. A grand total of 18. With such a consistent list, I honestly doubt all of them will work but I’m sure some of them will, especially if you’re from the US or Canada.
Even if you aren’t, you’ll probably still be able to find at least one or two that work.

I’m not from the US but as a person who earns a living online and who understands that if another country would have been the world’s #1 superpower instead of the US, we probably wouldn’t have had the Internet in its current form, I’d like to wish all of you a Happy 4th of July!
The US might not be perfect but believe me, it sure is better than the other potential superpowers. The Founding Fathers of the US were among the most brilliant individuals that ever existed and I sincerely hope that the people in charge of things over in the States won’t forget what they taught us.

Dot me is an extension that’s doing reasonably well in my opinion and since promos for .me domains are pretty rare, I decided to share this one. Namecheap is offering up to 10 .me domains at $0.98 each.
The promotion is only valid for new registration, it doesn’t work for transfers or renewals. It would have been better if it worked for transfers as well but still, it’s great if you’ve been meaning to register some .me domains.

Since I run online businesses, I’m in a good position to leverage my knowledge/experience and buy/sell domains regularly. I don’t buy/sell stocks regularly, I don’t buy/sell commodities regularly and so on. In other words, I’m a domain trader but *not* a stock/commodity/whatever trader, let me explain why.
