Let’s leave the aftermarket, conferences and domaining altogether aside for just a moment and spend 20 seconds doing something which WILL make a difference: (especially) if you’re a blogger, please read this.
A person (Alan Johnson) I bought a blog (TheRatingBlog.com) from a while back introduced me to the websites which can be found on my sidebar:
- The Animal Rescue Site
- The Breast Cancer Site
- The Child Health Site
- The Hunger Site
- The Literacy Site
- The Rainforest Site
The concept is extremely simple:
1) Visit each website
2) Click on the button which is displayed on the homepage
3) Help those in need
Now a click does obviously not generate decent earnings for the previously mentioned websites but 10,000 clicks do. 100,000 clicks do. 1 million clicks do. 10 million clicks do. 100 million clicks do. 1 BILLION clicks do. Be a part of it, your click counts!
If you’re a blogger and want to help, add the 6 websites to your sidebar and don’t forget to visit each site once per day. If you don’t own any blogs/websites, visiting the 6 sites on a daily basis and clicking on the button you’ll find on the homepage will definitely be enough: YOUR CLICK COUNTS!

I think that’s a great idea and even one billion monthly clicks is a realistic goal if 0.1% of all webmasters promote these sites

You’re right, it doesn’t even take a full minute to visit all those sites. Very clever and also thoughtful. Now’s the time to do great things together, it’s so easy to help another person that we often don’t even realize it.

Like you said, stepping back for a moment and helping those less fortunate is always a nice gesture. I never heard about this concept until I first checked out your blog, I hope more companies follow this example.
