I am not generalizing but most gold investors (the overwhelming majority) have an emotional rather than rational way of thinking. When gold goes up, they say it will go to the moon and when it drops in value, they say it’s due to manipulations.
As domainers, there’s a lesson to be learned:
Don’t let emotions get the best of you!
Sometimes, you make good decisions.
Sometimes, you make bad ones.
If you want to do well as an investor (in domains, in gold, doesn’t matter) you have to start assuming responsibility for your actions.
Blaming it all on manipulations or other outside factors is a “convenient” way to shift the blame to someone else. The problem is that by doing that, you’re sabotaging yourself.
Learning from your own mistakes is crucial as a domainer and as an investor in general.
A lot of times, this means being brutally honest with yourself.
Accepting that you screwed up and that you’re only human.
I understand, it tends to suck but there’s no other way to become better as an investor. One important aspect that can make the difference between success and failure is the willingness to assume responsibility for your own mistakes.
Resist the temptation of trying to rationalize your mistakes away, resist the temptation of blaming everything on outside factors and you’ll be in a far better position to do well than most people.
