New gTLD Case Study, Update #8: Dot Tools and Dot Parts

Posted on 25 June 2014 by Andrei

Five new gTLDs entered the General availability phase today:

Dot Tools
Dot Parts
Dot Supply
Dot Supplies
Dot Industries

Did some research but ended up only buying two domains:

Cheapest.Tools
Cheapest.Parts

I will point them to “this domain is for sale” landing pages and price them at $1,880 each. The dot com equivalents (CheapestTools.com and CheapestParts.com, owned by BuyDomains and respectively HugeDomains) are priced higher.

As you guys know, I’m very picky and only make a purchase if I see valid reasons to do that. If I only like two domains on a day with five new gTLD General Availability phase onsets, then I only buy two. You don’t *have* to buy lots and lots of domains just because you can.

Quality over quantity.

That’s the name of the game in 2014 and beyond, when it comes to new gTLDs as well as dot coms in my opinion.

Good call. I have bought gtlds too especially since big G google has moved in to be a domain registrar. No one messes with google. I am certain they ll be pushing the new gtlds.

I only ended up picking up one domain today (domaining.tools).

Two very nice domains that you managed to pick up, I really like cheapest.tools.
