We have switched to an amazing design and as of today, all of the auctions which got extended will appear on the homepage until they end. Here are the 8 gems we are auctioning today: Q.pe, dFrance.com, Joker.mobi, Sweatsuits.net, MovieWeblog.com, SatireCartoons.com, AmethystQuartz.com and SmallHeadphones.com!
A little bit of info about each domain:
Q.pe
Peru (.pe), with a population of 28,836,700, is definitely NOT just some random tiny island. On the one hand, Q.pe is the shortest domain on the market at this point and that gives you a HUGE edge if you want to start an URL shortener. On the other hand, it represents an amazing ccTLD investment. Everyone wants a piece of the .pe market, find just one business owner who wouldn’t want this baby: we dare you!
dFrance.com
Tourism, tourism, tourism. Ask 100 people to name their top 3 travel destinations and you’ll see that at least 80% will have France on their list. The development/monetization possibilities are endless and this much is certain: dFrance.com has “I’m ready to play with the big boys” written all over it!
Joker.mobi
A HUGE term and the stats speak for themselves: we’re talking about 9,140,000 (yes, nine MILLION) broad global monthly searches and 1,000,000 (yes, one Million) exact match global monthly searches.
Sweatsuits.net
If you don’t understand what makes this product name dot net domain a gem, you’re better off staying away from this thing everyone calls “the Internet”. Some people call them “sweatsuits” (1 word), others refer to them as “sweat suits” (2 words) but this much is certain: both keywords have a lot of search volume and by owning Sweatsuits.net, you’re covered!
MovieWeblog.com
There will always be a LOT of demand for movie review websites and this gem is the best possible domain on the market for a movie blog. There’s a lot of competition out there and you need credibility. Fortunately for you, the domain MovieWeblog.com provides just that. After all, you can’t expect to be taken seriously if you own opinions-are-like-you-know-what-but-please-read-mine.museum! Watching movies, reviewing them and making money through affiliate programs such as Blockbuster.com and Netflix: sounds like a great way to earn a living, wouldn’t you agree?
SatireCartoons.com
Anyone who visits sites such as Digg on a regular basis can confirm that not a day goes by without a funny cartoon going viral. There’s a LOT of traffic on the table and having a domain like SatireCartoons.com will definitely represent an edge. After all, who wants to tell people about a site called Look-At-These-Satire-Cartoons.travel?
AmethystQuartz.com
Here’s a challenge for you: call a handful of jewelers and ask them what they think about the domain AmethystQuartz.com, let’s just say that each and every one of them would LOVE to own this baby. People will always want to buy jewelry, there are TRILLIONS of dollars at stake and most potential end users consider the amount you’d love to receive for this domain pocket change!
SmallHeadphones.com
There’s a lot of demand for small headphones and that will never change. Some people simply want to go by unnoticed when listening to music in class, other people need small headphones for professional reasons but this much is certain: small headphones represent an industry and by owning SmallHeadphones.com, you and only you will be in the spotlight!

As much as I hated your first design I can’t find anything negative to comment on this. The progress is obvious, keep it up

It sounds like you guys are on to a good thing, but – and I don’t want to ruffle any feathers here – who thought that putting together the words Action and Pus was a good idea? 🙂

Design is great and functional too. It’s hard to find better designed sites than this. Goes to show how much you can achieve with an octopus 🙂
May 22nd, 2010 at 2:42 pm
I don’t know about that David, I think it’s great. It’s not an octopus, it’s an auctionpus. It grows on you. At first I didn’t understand what he did there but the more I see his site the more it grows on me.

@Nick
OK, I get it now. Octopus, Actionpus. Of course, there was also the James Bond movie Octopussy – which means you could have used… oh wait, nevermind 🙂

Why don’t you link to the site? You’re likely missing out on alot of traffic and it would show you’re actively promoting.
New design is mucho better. How have sales been?

The prices on the website and on the rss feed are different, for me at least.
May 22nd, 2010 at 4:23 pm
@Mark: done 🙂
@Jake: at this point, the current bid is displayed on the homepage and the minimum bid (the minimum bid people need to place at this point, in other words current bid + increments) is displayed on the banner. My programmer will play around with the banner and make the switch from minimum bid to current bid shortly.
May 22nd, 2010 at 8:07 pm
A quick update: the banner change I told Jake about has been implemented.

I get a lot of questions from new Domainers about Alexa rank and how important it is when monetizing or selling domains. While I myself am a self diagnosed Alexa.

They have the advantage.. The lessons learnt from Bido. While the site does not have the bells and whistles of bido, its a good start. Wish them all the best..

Domains are often graded according to the letters they contain. It’s the opposite of Scrabble 🙂
