Don’t Be *That* Guy Who Only Asks for Favors

Posted on 19 August 2013 by Andrei

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with reaching out and asking for a favor, nothing at all. Domaining is a small industry, everyone knows everyone so if you think another domainer can help with something, don’t be afraid to reach out.

But some people don’t understand that you have to also be willing to return the favor or even do someone a favor without owing that person anything.

Don’t just be a taker, be a giver!

Now of course, nobody’s saying you should bend over backwards if the request is unreasonable.

If someone asks for a favor which involves you having to work 10 hours on something, politely decline.

But a lot of times, the favor in question won’t involve anything of this magnitude.

Quite the opposite, in fact.

I’ve noticed that a lot of times, it involves something that’s hardly going to make you waste time and/or energy.

That’s why I, for one, have a general rule.

If I can be of help with something within reason, I do it.

No excuses, nothing.

You’ll feel better because you did your good deed of the day regardless of whether or not the person you helped will return the favor and as a nice bonus, you never know when you’ll be on the receiving end 🙂
