As someone who runs a domain sales newsletter, I ended up figuring out the golden rule: I have to be where the money is. It never ceases to amaze me how much liquidity there is with short domains compared to other types of inventory. Last week, I received an email from a buyer in less than a minute after publishing the newsletter if I’m not mistaken, he either got lucky or maybe some people just keep refreshing their inbox, waiting for my weekly email 🙂

If there’s one thing I’ve learned (or ok, I already knew it but my belief was strongly reinforced) since starting this newsletter, it’s that in terms of liquidity, there are two worlds: short domains and everything else. If you own a short domain, selling to other domainers it is extremely easy. If not, things tend to become quite a bit more complicated.

Yet another balanced list and nowadays, my number one goal is no longer having as much inventory as possible. The idea of selling hundreds of domains through a newsletter may seem tempting but if it makes you accept inventory which either isn’t good enough or isn’t priced properly doesn’t make sense.
At the end of the day, a newsletter isn’t a museum 🙂

This week’s newsletter is quite balanced in my opinion.
My newsletters are usually dominated by one domain category (LLLL.coms, keyword domains, one worders and so on) but this week, there’s something on the list for everyone. I have LLLL dot coms, I have one word dot coms at further reduced prices, then some other domains and even a few websites (at prices which have been reduced again).

Very balanced newsletter today, pretty much all domain categories have been covered.
Today’s email is dominated by over 100 LLLL dot coms (125, to be more precise) and short domain investors will also find the numerics I’m offering interesting.
I’m also selling one worders at discounts even steeper than those offered last time as well as a couple of other awesome names. Should be interesting.

This week, I’ll be trying a new experiment: after having a “short domain” themed newsletter last week and a “keyword domain” themed one the week before, I will be focusing on my own domains exclusively this week in a very aggressive manner.

Really awesome inventory today, should be interesting to see what happens next. First of all, I have a blockbuster website lined up, Dumb.com (it makes $2,000 per month) and also thought I’d experiment with short domains, which is why I have 162 of them for sale today.
Yes, one hundred and sixty two.

I’ve really outdone myself this time, today’s newsletter contains 300+ domains and the sellers are genuinely motivated to move inventory.
All of the domains aside from six are dot coms and the ones that aren’t dot coms are strong enough on the left of the dot to make up for it. Very happy with this week’s price/quality ratios. I have everything from blockbuster one-worders to “bread and butter”-type domains that help domainers put food on the table.

I’ve sent this week’s newsletter a few moments ago and compared to last week’s, it contains three times more domains. Anther difference is represented by the fact that the prices are extremely low this week, with most domains being in three figure territory.

In part 1 of this case study, I shared some initial impressions about my “I should try brokering domains at a 5% commission through my newsletter” (longest name ever?) experiment. Today, after crunching some numbers, I can say that financially, the results have been ok-ish.
