So You Think You’re Bullish on Domains?

Posted on 31 August 2013 by Andrei

… if so, it means you haven’t heard of Future Media Architects 🙂

Out of all domainers, I’d say Thunayan from Future Media Architects is (possibly by far) the person who believes in the long-term potential of domains the most.

Simply put, he never sells.

FMA owns over 100k domains and whenever someone you know is thinking about buying one of those domains (they own a lot of gems, so if you’re a domainer/entrepreneur, you’ll eventually come across domains owned by FMA), you can go ahead and tell that person that he/she is better off moving on.

I tried to buy one of their domains a while back (Andrei.com for obvious reasons haha) but as everyone who tried contacting FMA knows, you’ll receive an automated response which tells you they never sell as soon as you send an email to the address listed in the whois.

I have to admit, I’m intrigued.

Would be interesting to talk to him about his vision one of these days, I’m sure it would be fascinating.

If this is the first time you heard about Thunayan/FMA/Elequa, head on over to DNJournal.com and read the cover story Ron Jackson wrote about him back in 2003.

why not sell and buy two domains of similar quality with the proceeds.

But a domainer can’t allow himself to think like this, otherwise reasonable offers would have to be considered.

@grantham: normally, I’d agree with you but Thunayan is an exception.

Since he is very well-funded, he can afford to constantly acquire domains without liquidating his own inventory. From a liquidity standpoint, he’s basically in the best possible position.

Interesting story, Andrei. I’ll contact them and see if I can get someone on an interview.

I checked the domain names mentioned in Ron Jackson’s article via your link, but did not see any major developments since 2003. Even mp3.tv has not been updated for over 1 year. So I really fail to see his architect side. He’s a good domain collector, though.
