As a Domainer, At Least You Know the Rules!

Posted on 04 September 2013 by Andrei

Let me explain what I mean through an analogy with trading stocks.

A lot of people “trade the news” or in other words, they buy or sell stocks based on the news they find out about. If it’s good news, they buy and if it’s bad news, they sell.

There’s just one problem with that: they don’t know the rules of the game.

They don’t understand that larger players were already well aware of that information by the time the news bulletin in question appeared in the media.

In other words, there’s no level playing field.

Not by a long shot.

The average stock trader is therefore at a huge competitive disadvantage.

As far as the average domain investor is concerned on the other hand, that competitive disadvantage isn’t there.

You as a domain investor/trader at least know the rules.

Stock investors/traders don’t.

Therein lies the difference.

As time passes, I’m sure that will change.

With each year that goes by, it will be harder and harder for new domainers to do well.

But fortunately for those of you who are reading this, we’re not there yet.

The industry is still young enough for you as a beginner to compete on a level playing field with everyone else. Don’t underestimate the importance of this opportunity, it won’t be there forever!
