It seems that for some queries, Google is giving you answers instead of simply delivering search results. And I’m not talking about stuff like currency conversions (for example if you perform a search for the term “100 USD to EUR”), I’m talking about actual questions. For example, perform a search for the term “who are the founders of google?” and the following message will be displayed above all search results:
“Best guess for Google Founders is Sergey Brin, Larry Page
Mentioned on at least 10 websites including wikipedia.org, google.com and google.com ”
A few other examples:
“Who are the founders of Microsoft?”
“Who are the founders of Yahoo?”
“Who are the founders of TechCrunch?”
What’s interesting is that nothing is being displayed for the “Who are the founders of Facebook?” question 🙂
As a domainer, it’s good to know these things because in one way or another, all decisions made by big players such as Google ultimately end up affecting us.

Cool! Google is picking up the answer from websites like Wikipedia.org and answers.com.

Yes, those decisions do affect us!
