I’ve just received an email from Moniker with an update on the DomainFest Prague conference (over 200 attendees) and Restaurants.com seems to have received a bid ($4,500,000) which is quite close to its reserve. What do you guys think, will Restaurants.com be sold?
Restaurants.com is a developed website which, according to the owner (source: TheDomains.com), generates between $80,000 – $90,000 per month or $1MM – $1.1MM/year (95% net margin).
PS: the extended auction will start today and end on the 13th at 3:15 PM EST.

The price is good for the buyer with such a revenue. 1mm means money back after 5 years in current revenue.

It’s a good domain, but there are so many better ones to buy for that kind of money.

If that revenue is confirmed and they have been earning that much per month for over a year then that is a no brainer for the buyer.
5 years you get your money back and own the domain name for free.

Crazy to sell a million dollar per year asset for only 4x or 5x.

If the buyer is an end-user, then the price is worth it…if a domainer is going to buy it, he will not re-coupe his investment in the latter years since the domain game will have changed by then.
Before buying any domains, think about the future of the domain name…not about todays earnings…it will be a whole different game in the future!

That is great news. I wish we had Arizona’s governor, Jan Brewer, as our Governor here in Illinois. She’s fantastic.
