Ok, So the $0.99/$1.99/$2.95 GoDaddy Coupons Are Gone…

Posted on 09 August 2015 by Andrei

… let’s try to figure out what the next best thing is.

For this, I need your help.

As some of you have noticed, finding a $0.99 – $2.95 GoDaddy coupon that works is about as easy as finding a unicorn these days. As the domain industry’s self-proclaimed cheap bastard, it’s my moral obligation to help those who are on the lookout for the cheapest possible domain registration options.

Let’s get started.

First of all, I want to make it clear that I for one am not aware of any option that comes anywhere close to the $0.99 – $2.95 coupons.

From time to time however, domain registrars do offer similar deals but unlike the GoDaddy ones, they are temporary in nature. I distinctly recall NameCheap offering such low prices as as Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals or holiday deals but again, the campaigns in question were temporary. It might be a good to keep a close eye on the twitter accounts of all registrars so as to take action quickly whenever opportunities arise.

There have also been longer-term campaigns but the prices weren’t as good. They were however still excellent. For example, I remember registering domains at just $4.95 a pop or thereabouts for an extended period of time over at NetFirms. They aren’t widely used among domainers but I for one never had any issues with them, no transfer out problems or anything of that nature. DirectNic had something similar as well IIRC.

These are all examples of past offers (I don’t think any of them are still available) which involved registrars selling domains at less than the wholesale cost. Let’s all remember that the registrars themselves have to pay Verisign (the dot com registry) for each domain, that’s what “wholesale cost” means. I think that cost is $7.85 a pop or something of that nature.

Moving on to offers which are not below the wholesale cost but rather just slightly above, we have… GoDaddy 🙂

This time, I’m referring to the GoDaddy Discount Domain Club which works like this: you pay a monthly or yearly fee and have access to domains at preferential prices. Click here to see the full list of prices, $8.29 for a dot com is not bad. However, the DDC is only worth it for people who own lots of domains due to there being a fee involved. I do have one GoDaddy coupon for you guys today, 35% off Domain Discount Club memberships:

If you remember some great past deals (even if they’re no longer available) or know of a current offer, let us know by posting a comment or send me an email at admin@domainingtips.com. My preliminary conclusion is this: for the time being, keep your eyes open by following all registrars on twitter and reading NamePros, I’m sure some interesting opportunities are just around the corner.

My cheap bastard brethren, let’s join forces! 🙂
