Smartphones Can Only Do So Much – Extended Version

Posted on 21 July 2014 by Andrei

I think I wrote the shortest post in “DomainingTips history” yesterday and the main reason was that, you guessed it: I wrote it on my smartphone. As much as I love you guys, I love my sanity more, so there’s no way I’m writing a long post on my smartphone. Today, I’ll elaborate a bit and explain why smartphones are (in my opinion, of course), utterly useless when it comes to real work.

Am I the only one who finds them utterly useless for *real* work?

14 GoDaddy Discount Codes

Posted on 19 July 2014 by Andrei

GoDaddy has been very generous over the past couple of weeks and today, I’ll be sharing 14 coupons with you guys. Three of them should work worldwide (one of those even works for up to 3 domains, so not just one) and as far as the remaining 11 are concerned, I’m not sure.

Expediting the Transfer Process

Posted on 18 July 2014 by Andrei

In my opinion, this is a feature all registrars should have and as a domainer, I consider it quite desirable. Several companies already offer this and not having to wait that much for a transfer to finalize is a very nice perk.

Mediocrity = Bad Idea

Posted on 17 July 2014 by Andrei

I think a lot of new gTLD registry operators rationalized their fears away by saying something along the lines of “ok, most strings won’t be smashing hits but we’ll still break even in a reasonable timeframe” instead of trying to come up with ways to innovate.

Posted on 16 July 2014 by Andrei

Offering “Domain + Development” Packages to End Users?

Posted on 15 July 2014 by Andrei

This is one of the things I’ve been thinking about lately.

A lot of people consider the very concept of buying a premium domain strange but on the other hand, paying for website development is something they’re most likely used to.

The New Normal?

Posted on 14 July 2014 by Andrei

At this point, it seems that (as strange as it may sound), people are starting to consider a new gTLD launch with 1000-ish domains decent. We had several instances when only a 3 figure number of domains were registered after should have been the big launch phase (sunrise + landrush or variations thereof + first day of general availability), so standards/expectations have been loosened quite a bit.

Want Me to Analyze Your Portfolio? Round 10

Posted on 13 July 2014 by Andrei

Someone emailed me to ask if I’m still offering portfolio reviews and I realized my previous post was written back in April. No time like the present to fix that, time for round 10! As usual, I won’t write a novel about the portfolio, I’ll simply share my 2 cents and let you know:
