Saying “Thanks” Really Helps

Posted on 07 October 2015 by Andrei

I’m really happy to see that people are replying to the emails with the portfolio reviews that I sent yesterday and saying thanks.

Contrary to popular belief, bloggers aren’t robots 🙂

Blogging, for the most part, isn’t an amazingly lucrative endeavor.

People see the ads on DomainingTips and assume I’m doing very well, that’s hardly the case.

I blog once per day, 7 days a week.

Blogging is something that involves lots of creativity, doing it each day is a lot harder than it seems.

If I were to calculate how many posts I write per year and how much direct revenue DomainingTips generates yearly, I’d conclude that I’m effectively paying myself peanuts.

The fact that I’ve been constantly saying that new gTLDs suck for domainers and thereby effectively pissing off half of my potential advertisers certainly doesn’t help haha.

So if my calculations were strictly financial, I wouldn’t be blogging, I really wouldn’t.

But they’re not.

This blog enabled me to meet a lot of people I now consider friends, it makes it possible for me to help beginners start doing well, some of them from poor countries and for which domaining will represent something literally life-altering. Just like it did for yours truly.

Whenever someone says something nice, I get as excited as a little child who just received a toy.

Whenever someone tells me I suck, it makes me sad.

Why?

Because I’m human.

Just like you and just like all of the other bloggers.

Actually you deserve a “Thank you”, since you usually try to put good hints for arguments in your posts.

Maybe you could make more money writing posts on demand… (the industry would need someone who writes about serious needs/problems…).
