My First Domain Sales Newsletter Case Study

Posted on 24 August 2015 by Andrei

I’ve sent my first domain sales newsletter today and as promised, will be keeping you guys updated. The best way to do it, just like I’ve done many times before here on the blog, is through a case study. So, let’s not waste any time and get started.

I will be sharing all of the domains that I have promoted through this newsletter but please keep in mind that I will only keep this information on the blog for 48 hours. In other words, on Wednesday, I will delete all of the domains and prices from this blog post. This is because, naturally, I don’t want search engines to index this information and make it available online.

So with this in mind, here is the full text of my first newsletter:

>>> House.Rentals currently in auction at Flippa at just $950 (HouseRentals.com sold for $125k+). Ends in less than 24 hours. Visit the auction (http://clicks.aweber.com/y/ct/?l=HYb_o&m=3hXPeUX.45mRC5A&b=X_z0NpJ2jFs2i2OkII3b6A) for more information. This is a sponsorship message from PowerNames.co <<<

Hi guys, this is Andrei from DomainingTips.com and through today’s newsletter, I will be selling my own domains at reduced prices as well as the inventory which has been sent to me by others. I offer brokerage services at a commission of just 5% (three times lower than the industry standard of 15%) and thereby encourage sellers to price their domains aggressively. Win-win all the way.

To buy a domain, reply to this email or send a message to andrei@domainingtips.com.

If you would like to sell domains through my next newsletter, send your inventory to andrei@domainingtips.com and I’ll see what I can do.

Before moving on to today’s names, here are just three simple rules:

1) All transactions are handled via Escrow.com, the fees will be covered by the buyer

2) First come, first served. A lot of people receive this newsletter. If you see something you like, reply quickly. If someone else beats you to it, he gets the domain even if you email me a higher offer. Again: first come, first served

3) Feel free to make an offer on any of today’s domains. Sellers might be willing to budge, especially if you buy in bulk. I can’t make any guarantees but I’ll do my best to make deals happen.

Alright then, time to move on to the domains.

EDITED: the domains have been removed.

To buy domains or if you would like me to include your domains in my next newsletter, reply to this email or send a message to andrei@domainingtips.com.

All the best,
Andrei

I consider this newsletter pretty balanced overall, I did my best to ensure the domains are priced aggressively and we’ll see what happens next. On this list, we have everything from short domains to brandables to blockbuster one worders such as telemarketers.com and fanboys.com.

Most of the domains are priced but some of them are listed as “make offer” domains. The seller is motivated to move inventory, so if the offers are reasonable, a sale will take place. This is the fundamental aspect I tried to make everyone understand: a newsletter such as mine is a great place to sell domains to other investors if and only if the inventory is good and priced to sell.

If even one of these conditions isn’t met, in other words if the domains are not investment-grade or if the domains are not attractively priced for other investors, the newsletter isn’t going to work. For the newsletter to work, buyers as well as sellers need to be satisfied.

How do I keep sellers satisfied? Simple, through my commission of only 5%, which is three times lower than the industry standard of 15%. This enables you as a seller to have more wiggle room, to price your inventory more aggressively and maximize the likelihood of obtaining a sale.

How do I keep buyers happy? Strangely enough, my 5% commission is the main reason in this situation as well. By only charging 5%, you are making it easier for sellers to lower their prices because after all, the commission of a broker is also something that affects the bottom line of sellers in a significant manner.

I don’t want to end this post without mentioning that I’ve already made money though this newsletter: $175, not much but not zero either. This is because as you’ve noticed, there is a sponsored message at the beginning and at the end of the newsletter. Someone asked if I was willing to do this and I said that sure, I’ll give it a go. A second income source for the newsletter definitely can’t hurt.

That’s it for now.

If you want to subscribe to the newsletter, use the sidebar form.

If you want to sell domains though next week’s newsletter (it will go live on Monday) or sponsor it, send me an email (admin@domainingtips.com or andrei@domainingtips.com).

It’s already late over here, so good night 🙂
