Never quite understood why many people frown upon coupons. Whenever possible, I use coupons because quite frankly, I don’t see why I shouldn’t save money by doing something that only takes a few seconds. You type in the coupon code and bam… there’s your discount.

So back to my question, do you have to pay retail to be cool?

I shared a $2.95 GoDaddy coupon on my blog yesterday.

Three people thanked me but one person posted an ironic comment about coupons in general.

My reply was:

“if you wanted to register 3 domains anyway and came across this post, why shouldn’t you use the coupon now that you know about it?

It’s not like you have to do anything to take advantage of the discount, you just type it in or copy/paste it. So you “invest” 5 seconds of your time in order to save about 15 bucks if you register 3 domains.

If your time is worth more than $10,800 per hour ($15 for 5 seconds multiplied by 720) then sure, don’t waste it by using this coupon. But I’m pretty sure there aren’t any domainers who fit this description”

That’s how I see things.

Maybe some people think you have to pay retail to be cool, everyone’s entitled to an opinion but as far as I’m concerned, the situation is obvious: you can save money by “investing” a few seconds of your time to type in a coupon code.

Maybe some people don’t like coupons but hey, more discounts left for the rest of us!
