As a domainer, I’m always happy whenever someone puts a great domain to good use. I keep track of all sorts of finance-related stuff (the EUR/USD exchange rate, for example) and have used ForexPros.com even before they bought Investing.com.

All of the other $0.99 codes have expired but I just found out about a new one which lets you register or transfer up to 3 dot coms at $0.99 each. It’s only available to customers from the US or Canada, so I can’t test it myself.

As a blogger, the situation is obvious to say the least: there aren’t that many established domaining blogs (btw, DomainingTips.com will be 5 years old on the 31st of January, I’ll write a separate post about the anniversary later this month) and there will be lots of potential advertisers.

With the Groupon thing, they screwed up… royally. Nobody’s perfect but let’s face it: GoDaddy is a genuinely impressive company. I own a hosting business (DomainingServers.com), an article writing business (Articles.biz) and so on, so I know a thing or two about offering online services.

If you were affected, I think you can contact Groupon and request a refund. The Groupon offer was only valid for people from the US or Canada, so I wasn’t able to take advantage of it but based on what I’m hearing/reading, GoDaddy rejected additional Groupon credits today.
For example, if you bought three $70 credit codes via Groupon and applied them, you’ll only see $70 in your account now instead of $210. If you bought 4 $70 credit codes, you’ll only see $70 in your account instead of $280 and so on.

What better way to start the year than by saving a buck? If you took advantage of the Groupon deal, you can use that credit if I’m not mistaken. The deal was only available to US customers and since I wasn’t able to test it, I’m not 100% sure but if my memory serves me well, some people managed to use their credit with past $0.99 coupons so it will probably work now as well.

One of my readers (Jin) mentioned the deal yesterday.

Since I can’t test it myself, I wanted to find out if it hasn’t expired, so I got in touch with their live support staff (the things I don’t do for you guys haha; as an observation, the live chat process was very smooth, nicely implemented) and according to the person I chatted with, the promo is still valid.

… this is a resolution I forgot to mention and I think I’m not the only one who should do this haha. As a domainer or businessman, the worldwide economic climate undoubtedly ends up having an impact on your life.
