Will Demand from *Europe* Make LLL.coms Go Up in Value?

Posted on 22 October 2014 by Andrei

You probably thought it was a typo and that I meant China, didn’t you?

Well, it’s not and I didn’t.

Europe might be in huge trouble, its economy might be in bad shape but make no mistake: there are a *lot* of savers and there’s a lot of money on the table (most people don’t believe me at first when I tell them that the Euro Zone’s combined GDP exceeds that of the United States but it’s true).

If even a ridiculously small percentage of them decide to consider exotic assets such as domains, the effects might end up being quite impressive.

Ok but why would they do it now?

Well, for example because due to the deflation threat Europe is facing, the European Central Bank decided to implement negative interest rates and if things continue in this manner, EU citizens (especially those who live in some of the richer countries) might actually end up having to *pay* for the privilege of keeping money in the bank.

Even if that scenario doesn’t materialize, it’s clear that depositors will receive less and less interest. That might just convince some of them to start taking assets such as domains into consideration. Most people won’t and we all understand why but if even a small percentage decide to try domains on for size, the results might be interesting to say the least.

Why LLL dot coms?

Well because for the most part, those from the EU tend to prefer such domains (LLL, LLLL and so on) rather than numerics, as most of you already know.

In my opinion, this scenario shouldn’t be ignored.

Am I saying I can guarantee things will unfold in this manner? No, I’m not.

I’m simply pointing out that in light of the recent EU developments, the likelihood of things unfolding in this manner has gone up quite a bit.

Frank Schilling said it best that 3l .com investors artificially are keeping price high to protect their other invested interests. Watch interview on domain Sherpa, I believe it.

  2. Andrei Says:

@James: I doubt it since lately, prices are going up in an easily noticeable manner, so it’s not just a matter of keeping prices high at this point
