This Week’s New gTLD Launches

Posted on 06 October 2014 by Andrei

Not a very active week for new gTLDs, with one General Availability phase today and four on Wednesday. Aside from that, no other highlights that I’m aware of.

No landrush phases and no Early Access Programs either.

Today, the Dot Desi GA phase will start or actually, it might have already started. Haven’t been following this extension, so I’m not 100% sure.

On Wednesday, while the number of extensions in the spotlight is low, it will be interesting to see how things will unfold.

The main attraction will, without a doubt, be the Dot NYC extension. The expectations are extremely high to put it mildly.

The remaining three extensions are also worth following.

On the one hand, we have Dot Attorney and Dot Lawyer. It it a good thing that two similar extensions are in the spotlight on the same day? I guess it’s a good thing if you want to go after a domain in both extensions but what about Dot Attorneys, Dot Lawyers, Dot Law or Dot Esq?

If going after certain terms in all relevant extensions is your business model, I can only hope you have a big (and full) wallet 🙂

Finally, we also have the Dot City GA phase. It’s anything but a blockbuster new gTLD but still, not bad.

That’s pretty much it for this week.

I do my best to provide accurate information but please keep in mind that since there are so many new gTLDs and since a lot of them are very poorly promoted (pretty much no promotion whatsoever in a lot of cases), I might have missed some.

Do your own research, don’t rely exclusively on mine.
