Why Don’t You Just Outsource?

There are certain tasks that you just know are good for business but… well, they’re just anything but fun or worth your time.

For example, maybe you have a list of x domains that you want to acquire directly from their owners but, unfortunately, those owners are hard to track down. Should you give up on those domains, like (probably) other investors before you?

You could, but in this business, sometimes all it takes is one solid BUY and that one deal can make your entire years. Or keep you going for multiple years. One deal, but you have to make it happen.

Therefore, you find yourself facing a dilemma.

On the one hand, you hate tasks associated with tracking down domain owners but on the other hand, you know how important buying even one of those domains at the right price would be.

Outsourcing might be *just* what the doctor ordered!

The tasks associated with tracking down domain owners are something you can relatively easily teach to an assistant or virtual assistant that you hire and that way, you get the best of  both worlds.

It’s interesting how domaining tends to be a “lone wolf” industry for the most part and, as such, the average domainer finds the idea of outsourcing relatively strange. Perhaps even unpleasant, intrusive. But to take things to the next level in your career, at least hiring let’s say a virtual assistant might prove to be your best decision yet.

Now, sure, not everything related to domaining can be outsourced.

It would obviously be unwise to give some random person you just hired your registrar login details and put him/her in charge of renewing your best domains. I hope that’s a matter of common sense. But there are plenty of tasks that aren’t as “sensitive” and are therefore perfect candidates for outsourcing. Tasks such as:

  • domain owner research
  • end user research and maybe even outreach
  • landing page design, implementation and split testing
  • finding discounts/coupons
  • adding domains to various aftermarket platforms, removing the ones you’ve sold

… the list could go on and on.

In the end, maybe hiring someone for just one domaining-related task wouldn’t be worth it but if you are smart about it, you can train your (virtual) assistant to take care of several such tasks and in the end, his or her monthly paycheck would be more than justified.

Figure out how many hours you spend doing things you hate or that aren’t worth your time, hire someone to take that burden off your shoulder and use your time to think about bigger picture stuff, learn new things or anything else that’s better than mundane tasks!
