Not bad! According to RegistrarStats.com, there were 19,954 dot link registrations yesterday. Dot photo also did well, with 5,196 registrations and the same thing can be said about dot gift (4,392 registrations yesterday). Dot pics didn’t do as well as dot photo but still, it got 2,210 registrations on the first day of general availability. Dot guitars however only got 346 registrations and represents the worst performer out of the 5 Uniregistry new gTLDs which just went live.
Now it should be noted that quite a few dot link domains were not available on a “first come, first served” basis yesterday due to the fact that they were held back as premiums and it seems those domains were also taken into consideration as far as the 19,954 number is concerned.
Also, dot link domains are cheaper than the others, so a dot link registration is less profitable for the registry than a registration in one of the other 4 Uniregistry new gTLDs.
Still, solid performance from Uniregistry yesterday.
Now of course, it’s too early to draw conclusions but it seems that 4 out of the 5 new gTLDs which were launched yesterday will most likely prove to be decent revenue sources for Frank.
Dot link is especially noteworthy given the fact that after the first day of general availability, it’s already the 5th most popular new gTLD in terms of total registrations (with only dot guru, dot berlin, dot photography and dot email in front of it).
