Posted on 29 June 2010 by BillionDollarMedia

A portfolio of 272 two-word product name dot com domains is for sale at a fixed non-negotiable price of $10,000 (approximately $36 per domain).

The portfolio will be sold to the first person or company that contacts me by sending an email to admin@domainingtips.com. Domains can be sold individually at $49.5 each if and only if you want to purchase 10 at the very least.

Here are the 272 domains:

I think a large mini site builder should buy them. Getting on page 1 will be easy and if you have the exact match domain like these, your site will probably stay there for good.

  2. Nick Says:

Email endusers instead of selling them to domainers. You can receive $10k by selling just 10 instead of 272!

  3. Grant Says:

    Nick,

So buy them and sell them, easy money for you…

  4. Nick Says:

I’m not a professional domainer, I’m better at other things. Selling 272 domains would take time and it would take me more time than most domainers because I don’t have their experience.

To sell them, I’d have to stop everything I’m doing now and focus on just selling these domains. It’s like telling a lawyer to start a construction business. Both occupations are profitable but quitting your job would be too risky.

  5. self certification mortgages Says:

I also think people believe names they register are more valuable than they actually would be to an end user. I probably think the same myself, which is one reason I am challenging myself with this project. If it doesn’t succeed, I will be “stuck” with 5-10 names in the next 2 months that didn’t sell, but with the sale last week, the ROI is still huge although this post will need some refinement.

It’s not the number that counts or is it?

ps. what BESTAMERICANSEX.com at BESTNAME4DOMAIN.com should go for?

  7. Nick Says:

    @Jacek : At the best $100

  8. Stephen Says:

Quick suggestion (lucky I don’t invoice you for my time).

If you’re going to sell in bulk, the “grand portfolio” for a cemented price is okay. Then the “bulk packages” for $49.95 is okay, but what if people find only one domain they want? You should price them out at $99.95, so you can get buyers for at least ONE domain from the list. I saw about five domains in your list I was interested in, but I’m not buying 10 domains to get those five.

Set the bulk price for “3 or more” domains. That way, people can buy two domains for $99.95 each, and if they buy three, they actually get a $50 discount.

    you’re welcome.

    @ Stephen:

I think you have a great strategy, however splitting them up like that would dilute the value of the out-standers, as those would sell first. Not every domain in here is worth $36, but some are worth 10-15 times that. Once the list has been picked through, the odds of 10K worth of domains moving from this list is minimal at best. A bulk buyer would be appeased if there were enough usable names in the list to make the purchase worthwhile.

  10. Stephen Says:

    @Floname

Well thanks, I can give you further debate on your interpretation of how the domains would sell if you sectioned them off:

    1) Not everyone has the same idea of what a good domain is, so you might get lucky and sell a domain for a “low price” after all the good ones are picked off.

2)Most domainers who have the funds to buy all your domains for $10,000 are too focused and experienced to purchase all 272 UNLESS they saw value in them, because its just more domain management and renewall costs, which they don’t want to do if they don’t believe in the domains.

    3) It’s best to let your buyers pick what they want first, give them a bulk deal minimum (3 domains is good), and allow “cherry picks” for more profit per domain.

Once that process has “weeded” out the “good ones” as you say, then you can offer up the others at any price you want. I’ve bought a lot of nice .orgs from another smart domain seller who just offered them up at $10 – $20, and I saw at least 15 domains I thought were at least worth five times that much, so I bought them.

Your biggest roadblock is finding someone to buy the whole package for $10,000, because they’re already professionals who want to keep their portfolio tight and profitable. But what if they offer you $250 for a cherry pick? Sell 10 of those and you’ve already made 25% of your sale expectation, and you still have a huge list of domains you can sell out for cheap.

I hope you prove me wrong tho and get a package buyer.

    Hope this helps bro.

    @ Stephen:

    Good words. I stand corrected.

If I were buying right now, I may approach this list just as you mentioned; offer xxx for a few cherry picks. I don’t see enough names in there that would move me to buy them all.

    Best of luck with them!

  12. off-white hat Says:

Don’t need any of these. But one of them did give me an idea that led to me doing domain research that led to me finding a pretty sweet ass domain. So thanks, dude!
