Did You Register Any New gTLDs Today?

Posted on 03 September 2014 by Andrei

The following new gTLDs entered the General Availability period today:

Dot Audio
Dot Claims
Dot Credit
Dot CreditCard
Dot Gratis (”gratis” = “free” in German and a few other languages)
Dot HipHop
Dot Juegos

Did you register any domains?

I for one didn’t get anything today. On the one hand, I kind of like Dot Credit but at an annual registration fee in the $100 a pop zone, I decided to pass. If other domainers can see enough upside with such registration/renewal fees, more power to them but I for one just don’t see enough potential.

Dot CreditCard is too long for my taste and even more expensive than Dot Credit. Pass. Don’t get me wrong, I’d absolutely love to own some of “the best of the best” Dot CreditCard domains but those are rarely available at the standard GA price.

The Dot HipHop, Dot Audio and Dot Juegos extensions are interesting as well as cheap but the domains I had in mind were not available.

Dot Gratis has a wide pool of domains that make sense but I tend to stay away from domains related to anything in the realm of “free” unless they’re absolute gems at bargain basement prices.

Dot Claims isn’t appealing enough in my opinion unless we’re talking about again, the “best of the best” in terms of domains. Also on the expensive side in terms of registration/renewal fees.

If you got some and want to let others know, feel free to write a comment. I won’t delete “offers wanted” or “willing to sell” comments but please only list domains that are in one of the 7 extensions which entered the General Availability phase today.
