My Goals for 2013

Posted on 30 December 2012 by Andrei

For me (and most likely many others), 2013 will be a year of consolidation when it comes to my businesses as well as my activity as a domainer. I’ll be launching *one* new project in early 2013 and that’s pretty much it. Putting all of your eggs in the same basket is a mistake but then again, so is spreading yourself too thin.

Chair + Mattress

Posted on 29 December 2012 by Andrei

Today’s post will be very short and I just thought I’d write it to make it clear that there are two investments people don’t pay enough attention to: the chair they sit on and the mattress they sleep on. All in all, most individuals spend over 50% of their life sitting in a chair + sleeping on a mattress, so why are these two investments (yes, investments) frequently overlooked?

I’m an Optimistic Realist

Posted on 28 December 2012 by Andrei

In life, I’d advise against being the type of person who *only* thinks about negative aspects but on the other hand, not being realistic can have repercussions which can be just as severe. As someone who earns a living online, you’re constantly bombarded by the two extremes and that’s dangerous to say the least.

Both extremes cloud your judgement.

44% Discount for GoDaddy Renewals

Posted on 27 December 2012 by Andrei

30% renewal discount coupons are pretty easy to find but 40%+ ones aren’t, so I thought I’d share this one. Also, I’m not 100% sure but I think you can use the GoDaddy credits you buy through the Groupon offer mentioned on TLD.org, so you’d basically be receiving two discounts.

Two More Kiva Causes

Posted on 26 December 2012 by Andrei

Since you guys deserve all of the credit (a special thanks to everyone who signed up for a DomainingServers.com $0.98/month hosting account and to everyone who will sign up after reading this post, all of the revenue from new $0.98/month hosting customers generated until the end of December will be donated via Kiva), I thought it would be a good idea to blog about the causes we’ve supported.

Dot Net Price Increase

Posted on 25 December 2012 by Andrei

The good news from VeriSign (news I’m sure you read about earlier this year) is that, as per the stipulations of their new contract, there won’t be any new price increases for dot coms. That’s excellent news for sure but the bad news for next year is that as of the 1st of July 2013, the wholesale price will increase to $5.62, ICANN fee not included.

Oh well 🙂

Merry Christmas!

Posted on 24 December 2012 by Andrei

We’ll be celebrating in a couple of hours over here, so I just thought I’d take advantage of my 5 minute break and wish you guys a Merry Christmas!

Hope you and the ones you love have a lot of fun, forgetting about domaining for at least a few hours definitely can’t hurt… actually who am I kidding, I’m 99% sure most of you (including yours truly) will be secretly thinking about your next sale or acquisition : c’est la vie 🙂

Don’t Be Bitter… Just Don’t!

Posted on 23 December 2012 by Andrei

In our industry, there are unfortunately many people who develop a “they were lucky enough to be here x years ago” way of thinking which is destructive to say the least. Look, you can’t control the past and instead of losing sleep over things you cannot control, why not focus on the present?

Be Polite… Even to Assholes

Posted on 22 December 2012 by Andrei

When having an offline face-to-face conversation, you’re less likely to deal with assholes than on the Internet, simply because the anonymity factor associated with the Internet tends to sometimes make the worst in people surface. The Web has a *lot* of advantages but there are also disadvantages that have to be acknowledged, c’est la vie.
